Jesuit's Equestrian and Orator Extraordinaire

Equestrian Renee Kozlowski '19 recently competed at the 2018 Eastern National 4H Horse Roundup where she earned the accolade of Public Speaking Reserve Champion.

After winning the Clackamas County and Oregon state 4H equine-related speaking competitions, Renee traveled to Louisville, KY this November to compete against other state champions. She scored 289 of 300 possible marks to earn the second place finish.

In addition to public speaking, Renee also puts her horse riding skills to work competing at meets throughout the year. Last year, she qualified for the Oregon High School Equestrian Teams state competition in hunt seat equitation, drill, working pairs, and eventing and placed fourth in the region in jumping.

Equestrian has been a positive outlet for Renee to learn other life skills like time management, confidence in front of a large crowd, and cooperation and communication with humans and horses alike.

As Renee sees it: "Riding horses has taught me to go about everything I do with tenacity and diligence, even when things get difficult. With enough determination you can reach your biggest goals."

Congratulations to Renee on her outstanding achievements. We wish her even more success in future competitions!
