Earth Day on Monday, April 22 marks the start of Green Week at Jesuit High School. Green Week helps raise awareness about sustainable practices and offers an opportunity to renew our community's commitment to be stewards of God's creation.
This year, Jesuit High School participated in the Ignitian Solidarity Network's Lenten Challenge to fast from single-use plastics. Green Week continues to highlight this commitment with the theme of "Plastic, Not So Fantastic," and focuses efforts on reducing, reusing, and recycling single-use plastics on campus during this Easter season and beyond.
All members of our community are invited to join us in the following Green Week events and efforts:
JHS T-Shirt Swap
Bring in your gently used JHS T-Shirts, JHS sweatshirts or other JHS gear to swap or share with others. Seniors, this is a great opportunity to clean out your closet before graduating. Drop off your items in the blue collection bins in the Gedrose Student Center and Knight Lobby. All students are invited to shop at the swap after school on Thursday, April 25 in the Student Commons. Show your school spirit and be sustainable!
"Plastic, Not So Fantastic" Brown Bag
Come hear students from Green Team talk about ways to reduce plastic in your life on Wednesday April, 24 during both lunches. All students who attend will win an entry into raffles to win a Hydroflask, metal straws, or bamboo utensils.
Do you have any old or unused crayons taking up space at home? Bring them to the collection bins in the Student Commons or Knight Lobby and we will recycle them for you!
Recycling Programs at JHS
Did you know that JHS now recycles the following items on campus: deodorant containers, contact lenses, toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, floss containers, razors and more? Click here to learn more about what items you can bring from home to recycle. Drop off locations are in the Knight Lobby and Student Commons.
