Students and Faculty Honored during Graduation Weekend
Congratulations to our Class of 2024 graduation award recipients! These grads were honored at our Commencement ceremony this past weekend for their outstanding contributions to our school and larger communities.
- Valedictorian – Roshen Nair: The Valedictorian Award honors the student graduating with the highest GPA.
- Salutatorian – Surabhi Sharma: The Salutatorian Award honors the student graduating with the second-highest GPA.
- Senior Loyalty Awards – Mary Pearl Haney & Sabatino Stacchi: The Loyalty Awards are given to a female and male graduate chosen by their peers who best embody the profile of the Graduate at Graduation (Open to Growth, Intellectually Competent, Loving, Committed to Doing Justice, and Religious).
- Fr. Henry Schultheis, S.J. Christian Commitment Award – Rory McWeeney: The Fr. Henry Schultheis, S.J. Christian Commitment Award is given based on a student’s participation in a meaningful Christian service experience, commitment to advocating for those who are marginalized in our society, additional volunteer work outside of school, service and participation at Jesuit High School, and service as a role model and friend to classmates over all four years.
- Jesuit Schools Network Awards – Angel Ruiz Lopez & Soleil Scott: The Jesuit Schools Network Awards are given to a female and male graduate chosen by a committee of peers and faculty who represent the following statement: “A well-rounded person who is intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving and committed to doing justice in the generous service of the people of God.”
Another big congratulations to our two faculty members who were recognized at Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday!
- Educator of the Year – Director of College Advising Peter Johnson: The Educator of the Year Award is given to a faculty or staff member whose work has had a significant impact on the education of the Class of 2024. Mr. Johnson has been a college counselor at Jesuit High School for 20 years and is fully committed to supporting student growth and development through an Ignatian lens. He brings a calm, steady approach to college admissions, complemented by his openness to growth, careful listening, thoughtful questioning, and humility. He's always willing to pitch in when needed in all aspects of the school, most recently on the accreditation committee and working with the Knights program.
- Sandy Satterberg Award for Excellence in Ignatian Pedagogy – History teacher Paul Klausenburger: The Sandy Satterberg Award in Ignatian Pedagogy is intended for a teacher who strives to employ Ignatian principles in their teaching, who is committed to educating the whole student and seeking an ever-deepening awareness and practice of Ignatian education. Mr. Klausenburger has been a history teacher at Jesuit for 26 years. He has directed the National Honor Society for much of that time. He has also been an active member of the Campus Ministry team and has participated in many retreats and encounters. Students appreciate his love of history, care for his students, and his dedication to teaching.
