After thoughtful planning and fundraising and five busy months of construction, Phase One of our Smith Gym/Halton Family Sacred Space Renovation project is complete! We envisioned a project that would transform the Smith Gym into a more reverent space for students and community members to celebrate Mass every Friday morning. Next week, we will open the doors to our newly renovated space, with an architectural wood ceiling and all-new, state-of-the-art technology, lighting, and seating. Phase Two of construction, which includes additional AV, HVAC, an electrical upgrade, and EV charging stations, will take place next summer, and is expected to be completed before the start of the 2024-2025 school year. After Phase Two is complete, we will once again hold Mass in this sacred space on Fridays, and in the meantime, we look forward to using the gym for athletics and events. We welcome our community members to join us every Friday at 8:55 am to celebrate Mass in Knight Gym.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has dedicated their time, energy, and generous resources to this project, notably the Halton Family, Tracey and Mike '68 Clark, Lisa and Tom Brenneke, Schommer & Sons, and Opsis Architecture. Photos by Jack Schmidt.
