Sophia Stiles ’25 is Oregon’s 2024-25 Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year. The award celebrates the top high school athletes in the United States for their excellence on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
In her senior year, Sophia helped the Crusaders’ defense post 14 shutouts in 20 games, allowing only 10 goals on the season and just one in the postseason. The team’s 19-1 record culminated in the 2024 6A state championship title.
Sophia earned MVP honors in the High School All-American Game in December 2024 and was also named a 2024 United Soccer Coaches All-American.
“Sophia has been among the top defenders in the state for the last four years,” said Steve Fennah, Jesuit’s women’s soccer coach. “She has all the tools necessary to play at the next level. She is not only a great defensive force, dominant over her opponents, but a skilled offensive player on the ball, too.”
Off the field, Sophia volunteered with the Oregon Humane Society and also worked with elementary school students in a social-emotional support classroom. She maintained a 3.7 GPA at Jesuit High School.
Sophia plans to play soccer at Rutgers University this fall.
Congratulations, Sophia!
