Sofia Bell Named McDonald’s All-American

Jesuit High School senior Sofia Bell was selected to the 2023 McDonald’s All-American roster. She will compete in the annual McDonald’s All-American game in Houston on March 28, 2023, which features the best high school basketball players in the United States and Canada. Sofia is the only player from Oregon to be invited.

A 6-foot-1 wing, Sofia is averaging 19.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game in her senior season for the Crusaders. Sofia is the 26th ranked senior in the nation according to ESPN, and she is committed to play basketball for the University of Oregon next year.

“We are so proud of Sofia,” said Jesuit High School women’s basketball coach Jason Lowery. “What a wonderful and well-deserved honor. Sofia is a tremendous basketball player, but she is a better person. As a true woman for others, she represents everything that Jesuit High School, Jesuit athletics, and Jesuit women’s basketball is all about.”

The McDonald’s All-American program was founded in 1977 when Magic Johnson was named to the team. Since then, the top girls and boys high school basketball players in the U.S. and Canada compete in an annual all-star game format of East versus West. Notable McDonald’s All-Americans include Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Breanna Stewart. Michael Dunleavy Jr. ‘99 and Kyle Wiltjer ‘11 are the only other Jesuit High School players to be named a McDonald’s All-American.
