Student Fundraiser FAQ

• The Student Fundraiser (SFR) is a student-led campaign with two main goals: reach full participation (100%) and raise $160,000.
• $75,000 will be used to assist students and their families who qualify for financial aid. This is 50% more than prior years ($25,000)!
• The remainder will be used to support Jesuit in a number of important areas including Christian Service, drama, diversity, sustainability, technology, and many more!

• To keep our school accessible and affordable to as many students as possible.
• To provide funds for various projects for students.
• Tradition – since the school was founded, there has been some type of student fundraising effort.
• Our participation builds a strong foundation for future Crusaders, supports our current students, and shows our gratitude.

• Each student is asked to compose a paragraph about his/her experience at Jesuit and provide ten (or more) names and addresses to which the letters can be sent. Letters can be sent to anyone the student knows (friends, relatives, past and present coaches, dentist, etc…).
• Students can also opt to collect $100 in place of letters
  • VENMO (@JesuitPDX) is now an option to pay your $100!
    • Make sure to name the student and 3^rd period teacher in the notes field or you will not be able to give you proper credit.

***Sibling Rule UPDATE!***

• For families with more than one student attending Jesuit: each student in the family is asked to write 5 letters each (1 letter & provide 5 addresses) - OR - collect a TOTAL of $100 per family combined for 100% participation credit. 
  • NOTE: One sibling writing their letter and providing more than 5 addresses will ONLY benefit their participation more and NOT their siblings. Each sibling must participate for individual and class credit. 
  • Example: 2 siblings could donate a total of $100 and both would receive 100% participation credit – OR – write 5 letters each for 100% credit. If they write more than 5 letters participation will be increased 10% for each additional address/letter submitted.
  • You may also donate money and do letters to combine to reach the goal of 100% (Ex: $50 & 5 letters = 100%).
• Students submit their paragraph and addresses via the Google form link on the Jesuit website (the link will also be emailed to them)
• Development Office prints and mails all the letters. Click here to see a sample letter.
• We will not accept letters addressed to family pets, current Jesuit students, random addresses, people or businesses not known to the student and disciplinary action will be taken in these cases.
• Each third period class works as a team – complete letters online or submit money to third period teachers.
• As soon as letters are edited, we will be stuffing envelopes and mailing. Jesuit Commitment Students will receive credit for assisting with this step.

• Letter writing will take place January 30^th - February 13^th.
• Starting on February 20^th we will need parent volunteers to assist with proof reading the student letters. This process could take up to two weeks -- we will always accept more volunteers! Click here to volunteer!

• If a person only wants to give to the SFR, they will not be asked to give to other Jesuit fundraisers.

• Students can earn the money from parents, friends or relatives. If they have a part-time job, they could contribute a portion of the $100. Each year, some students participate in this way. Don't be tempted to just “write a check." All students are encouraged to complete the paragraph and submit addresses.

• For years, a portion of your tax dollars have funded your public school friends and their children's education. Catholic education will always depend on the generosity of many people, not just those who attend our school.

• The President acknowledges all gifts to the school in the Annual Report.
• The Development Office sends individual thank you letters with the school's Tax ID number to each donor. In June, we will provide a list of people who made a gift in response to your letters. It is our hope that these donors will receive a thank you note from you as well.
