Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
As you know from Mr. Arndorfer's letter, we are looking forward to welcoming students back to campus in our Hybrid schedule, starting with the Green Cohort of juniors and seniors on February 9.
To ensure a safe and orderly return for students, the following is our Return-to-Campus Plan:
- JHS Rapid Testing Program: NW Mobile Labs will conduct rapid antigen testing, funded by JHS, for all juniors and seniors on Saturday, February 6, and freshmen and sophomores on Saturday, February 13. Students will sign up for a 30-minute testing slot, between 10 am and 5 pm. If a student cannot make it on their Saturday, a limited number of slots will be available the following Monday morning. In the case of a positive result, we will guide students and parents through next steps.
- Saturday, February 6: Rapid Testing for all 11th and 12th graders planning to come to campus for any reason.
- February 9-12: 11th/12th graders on campus on designated Cohort days (9th/10th grades in Remote).
- Saturday, February 13: Rapid Testing for 9th and 10th graders planning to come to campus for any reason.
- February 16-19: 9th/10th graders on campus on designated Cohort days (11th/12th grades in Remote)
- February 23-26: All students on campus on their Cohort days, except for those electing Fully-Remote.
Hybrid Schedule
In the revised Hybrid Schedule, classes are 75 minutes, with Mass offered twice a week so that students in both Cohorts may participate if they choose. Students have made clear that in addition to on-campus classes, they are also looking forward to clubs, Mass, athletics, fine arts, and all the other activities Jesuit offers—including seeing teachers for extra help. Therefore, periods 5, 6, and 7 will now meet consecutively on Wednesdays and Fridays, allowing classes to end at 12:05 pm. Students may leave campus, sign up to attend Mass, or eat outside in designated areas and then attend clubs, athletics, etc.
On their Cohort days, students waiting to be picked up, but not engaged in activities after classes end, will be placed in supervised study halls. Students will not be allowed just to "hang out" on campus.
Certain sports practices may start at 1 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays—the Athletic Department will send information. In addition, we are investigating offering periodic COVID-19 surveillance testing by Cohort on certain Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
Green and Gold Pledge
Must be e-signed by student and parents before students return to campus for classes
Returning to campus requires that all members of the Jesuit community follow CDC health guidelines on and off campus. To affirm this commitment to our community, students and parents are required to sign the Green and Gold Pledge before the student begins the hybrid schedule. We are asking all students and parents to sign this pledge by this Thursday, February 4, at 4 pm.
We will send follow-up information as appropriate. Meanwhile, please see our new webpage, Hybrid 2021, for answers to many of your remaining questions and for campus and health and safety protocols and procedures. Students will receive training on how to enter and exit campus, how to move between classrooms, in hallways, lunch, and more during their first week back on campus. Please be aware that some teachers may continue to teach remotely for a specific time period due to health situations in their families. We will have Prefects assigned to those rooms, and will inform students in affected classes.
Thank you for your patience as we work through the complex process of returning to campus during this historically challenging period. We are eager to see students back on campus!
Sincerely,
