Meet Our Writing Fellows

Ariana Andrade '26

Ariana loves spending time with friends and family, whether that’s shopping, hanging out, or going on hikes. One of her favorite films is Hidden Figures because of its inspiring message, and her go to TV show is Stranger Things. When it comes to writing, Ariana enjoys pieces that let her be creative and thoughtful. She became a Writing Fellow because she knows how frustrating it can be to feel stuck on a paper and wants to help others find confidence in their writing.

Mattie Baker '26

Mattie loves skiing, listening to music, and traveling. She finds brainstorming to be the most difficult part of writing, but much more bearable when listening to Frank Ocean. When she was younger, she often found writing essays to be daunting and frustrating, but after much practice it has grown easier. As she understands the struggle of writing, she joined the writing lab to support others who are facing the same challenges. She highly recommends the movie Waves.

Olive Brown '26

Olive loves reading, playing sports, and spending time with her family and friends. She's a member of ethics bowl, swim team, track team, one of the leaders for BSU, and a rector for Setons. She wanted to be a writing fellow to help others with their writing as well as improve my own.

Nathan Bui '26

Nathan is your junior class president and is involved in football and lacrosse. He enjoys playing piano, building Legos, hiking, biking, reading, and spending time with friends. He became a Writing Fellow because he used to struggle a lot with writing and wants to help relieve your stress in the writing process to help you express your ideas.

Eli Hanson '26

Eli likes to hang out with friends, eat Mexican food, lift weights, and read. He works as a lifeguard and sings in the chamber choir here at Jesuit. Helping people feel confident about their writing is very rewarding for him.

Mariam loves trying new things such as running, guitar, softball, and traveling new places. English and yearbook are her favorite subjects in school and she believes that the people around you shape who you grow into. Her favorite movies include 10 Things I Hate About You, Where the Crawdad Sings, and Tangled. Mariam is part of a big family with four older sisters and a husky named Fleury.

Max Mullen '26

Max enjoys surfing and spending time outdoors during his free time. His favorite movies are Interstellar and Fantastic Mr. Fox, and he wants to travel the world in the future. He has been a Writing Fellow for two years, and likes helping students write all kinds of essays and projects.

Grace Nguyen '26

Grace enjoys English class and helping others with their writing. In her free time, she likes watching shows while doing art and hanging out with friends on the weekend. A silly, turn-off-your-brain show she would recommend is Smiling Friends, one of her favorites.

Eesha Raghavan '26

Eesha enjoys traveling and spending time outside hiking, backpacking, and just being in nature. She is an avid reader and one of her favorite books is Gone With The Wind. She loves to read all types of writing, but especially likes narrative pieces because of how relatable and meaningful they can be. In her free time, she enjoys baking, spending time with friends, and listening to music.

Lauren Reding '26

Elliot is a fencer and loves reading and watching movies with his family. He really enjoys reading older works of literature and he's excited to be working as a writing fellow this year!

An Curbow '27

Annalina Grotbeck '27

During her free time, Annalina likes to crocket and knit, or spend time with friends. She's a long and triple jumper on the track team, and is a part of Ethics Bowl and Science Olympiads. Her writing "hot take" is that Oxford commas are a must.

Jaiya loves reading, watching sports, and baking for friends and family! She does track at Jesuit and also likes rock climbing and go-karting. She loves all of the Harry Potter movies and her favorite time of year is December. She joined the Writing Lab because she loves the writing process. She's excited to help out at the Writing Lab this year!

Shriya Raghavendra '27

Shriya loves biking, hiking, watching good movies, outdoor activities, and playing the piano. She enjoys writing about memoirs and historical pieces. Some books she would recommend are They Went Left and These Violent Delights. She wanted to be a Writing Fellow to help more people enjoy the writing process and find their passion in writing.

Caroline Rauch '27

Caroline is involved in Ski Team and Track at Jesuit. She can be seen carrying large boxes of home baked goods around the halls of Jesuit and she loves listening to music. Her favorite type of writing is journaling because you can write for as long as you want and there's no need for a satisfying conclusion or introduction.

Elizabeth Shen '27

Elizabeth loves exploring the intersections between STEM and the humanities. In her free time, you’ll likely find her reading a variety of books, playing the piano, or trying to study chemistry. She enjoys and admires the writing in books like Anna Karenina, Dune, and Call of the Wild. Elizabeth views improving writing as a marathon, and hopes to support others in their writing journeys.

Mae Strickland '27

Mae loves reading and writing, is part of the mock trial team at Jesuit, a competitive dancer, and one of the leaders of the Disability Advocacy & Awareness Club. Her favorite hobbies are reading (mainly classics and history books!), baking, hiking, and watching movies (especially Hallmark). She is so excited to be a Writing Fellow because she loves the creative side of the writing process and helping others come up with new and exciting ideas. Her writing “hot take” is that everyone should continue to use em dashes loud and proud, even though they are commonly flagged as a mark of AI. They stole it from us, after all!

Lucy Vu '27

Lucy enjoys snowboarding and playing the piano. A guilty pleasure of hers is binging K-dramas in her free time. Her favorite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and fun fact: She read it in Spanish before she read it in English. She wanted to be a Writing Fellow because English is one of her favorite subjects and she loves challenging herself to improve her own writing abilities.
