Make Up Testing
CLARC Testing Center
The CLARC Testing Suite is a resource available to all students. Make-up testing is for students who have missed a scheduled quiz/test, and is available before and after school, during a prep period, and during Magis Seminar. (It is NOT available during class periods, even with teacher permission.)
Note: The Charles J. Swindells Counseling Center will no longer proctor exams. All testing accommodations now take place in the Clark Library and Academic Resource Center (CLARC).
Information for Teachers
The CLARC is happy to provide make-up testing support to Jesuit High School faculty working with students who have missed a scheduled exam/test due to absence.
Guidelines for faculty on makeup testing:
- Remind students they need to take tests within 48 hours of the test date. If the test is given on a Friday, it must be taken on Monday, assuming the teacher has placed the test on file and the testing center has space. The exception would be an extended illness. Please clearly state this in syllabus, and remember that not all students have access to independent transportation to and from school (i.e. Nativity Bus.)
- We ask that students sign themselves up for make-up exams but you are welcome to send a student to the testing center during class to sign up OR e-mail testing coordinator to remind student.
- After a student signs up for make-up testing, teachers will be notified one school day prior. The teacher is responsible for filling out the cover sheet and bringing the test to the Testing Suite located in the CLARC.
- i-Pad tests cannot be actively monitored during the testing process (i.e. looking over a student’s shoulder the entire test.) Please proceed accordingly.
- Students may not take make-up tests during breaks, flex periods and lunches.
- The only time students are allowed to use the testing suite during school hours is during Magis Seminar or prep periods.
- Faculty are not required to use the testing suite for makeup testing.
Information for Students
The CLARC is happy to provide daily make-up testing support to students who have missed a scheduled quiz/test due to absence.
Guidelines for JHS students needing to makeup an exam/test:
-
Make-up and extended-time tests should be completed within 48 hours of the date the test was given. If the test is given on a Friday, it must be taken on the following Monday, assuming the teacher has placed the test on file and the testing center has space. The exception would be an extended illness. (Note: a student can request to take the test a day early.) Please clearly state this in syllabus, and remember that not all students have access to independent transportation to and from school (i.e. Nativity Bus.)
-
Athletic coaches, directors, and other co-curricular moderators understand making up work is the priority, and will not penalize you for missing practice/rehearsal to take a test (less playing time, running laps, etc.) Please communicate with them right away if you are scheduled to take a test.
-
Please see your counselor as soon as possible if you need an exception due to circumstances beyond your control.
- Students are responsible for notifying their teacher when they have signed up for a make-up testing time.
- After a student signs up for make-up testing, teachers will be notified through our automated system. The teacher is responsible for bringing the test to the CLARC.
- Students are responsible for signing themselves up for a testing slot.
- Before/after school through the "Testing Center" link in Canvas.
- All JHS policies and procedures are in effect when taking a test.
- Failure to follow the process may result in the student being denied make-up usage for the time they have requested.
