Academics

Jesuit schools have long sought to balance a pursuit of excellence with cura personalis — care for the individual as a whole person. Our schools have flourished for almost five centuries because we have a powerful mission and a clear philosophy of education rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, known as the “Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm.” The Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm informs how we teach; the Profile of the JHS Graduate reflects what we teach.

As a Jesuit work sponsored by the Society of Jesus, we align our curriculum and programs with the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching and the four Universal Apostolic Preferences that guide all Jesuit works. See our Arrupe Center for Justice Education & Advocacy page for more information about how Jesuit engages in this mission-driven work.

Our robust academic programs seek to meet students where they are, leading them as far as their intellects and imagination will allow. In each subject area, we offer a range of courses through which students will learn essential skills and explore their passions.
